Call for irradiation experiments 2021 is open!
Published on: 30/06/2021

The latest CERN Injector Accelerator schedule confirms the availability of the proton beam for the IRRAD facility in 2021 from week 38 (September 20th) to week 45 (November 8th). Therefore, we are happy to open the call for irradiation experiments for the IRRAD proton run 2021. Due to the limited amount of beam time in 2021, and the need to use part of it to re-commission the irradiation beam after the long LS2 stop, priority in 2021 will be given to urgent experiments only. Deadline to submit your request is Monday August 2nd 2021.

Update about the IRRAD run 2021
Published on: 04/05/2021

The IRRAD beam operation in 2021 it is submitted to the completion of the ongoing consolidation works in the PS East Area which are proceeding according to shedule, targeting the beginning of the beam commissioning period during September 2021 (see PS user schedule). The possibility of performing “urgent” irradiation experiments in 2021 (week 42 to week 45) will be confirmed during June 2021 and, in positive case, the call for user experiments will be issued accordingly. The IRRAD facility will resume its regular operation at the beginning of 2022.

Restart of IRRAD Facility in 2021
Published on: 11/12/2020

The IRRAD beam operation in 2021 will follow the CERN Injectors Schedule approved on 02.12.20 and it is submitted to the completion of the ongoing consolidation works in the PS East Area. The possibility of performing “urgent” irradiation experiments in 2021 (week 42 to week 45) will be confirmed during spring 2021 (March/April) and, in positive case, the call for user experiments will be issued accordingly. The IRRAD facility will resume its regular operation at the beginning of 2022. Currently the access to the IRRAD Facility infrastructure is limited. In case of need, please contact ps.irrad@cern.ch before submitting your access request.
